Training as Vehicle to Employment: Newsletter, November 2007

Dear Reader

Welcome to the 4th common newsletter to the EU wide project ‘Training as Vehicle to Employment’ (TVE).

This project is a two year EU wide project focusing on national government agencies’ traineeships. There are two basic aims:

  1. To promote training positions in the public sector and to open them to persons with disabilities.
  2. To list the training positions that disabled persons can apply

This project is being run in Ireland, Latvia, Germany, Finland, Greece, Spain, Sweden, Poland and Bulgaria. You can find up-to-date information from the international website http://www.independentliving.org/training

Results web page up and running!

Have a look at http://www.independentliving.org/training/accessibility-govt-training-en.html where we list training opportunities for people with disabilities at government agencies in the project’s participating countries.

You will also be able to make smaller comparisons between the participating countries state agencies.

The site is updated once a week.

TVE at the European Day of People with Disabilities 2007

TVE has been invited to attend the conference "People with disabilities: Active players in the Internal Market", organised by the European Commission. The conference takes place in Brussels on the 5th-6th of December.

This conference is to mark the International Day of Disabled People that was set on the 3 December by the United Nations in 1992. Every year, the European Commission organises a policy conference around this date, in close cooperation with the European Disability Forum (EDF), which represents people with disabilities at EU level. The European Day conferences form part of the EU's broader efforts to promote the mainstreaming of disability issues, as set out in the 2004-2010 Action Plan for Equal Opportunities of People with Disabilities.

This year, the conference will consider on one hand, how people with disabilities can contribute to the EU Internal Market while enjoying its four freedoms as active citizens and on the other hand how people with disabilities can interact with other stakeholders to strengthen the Internal Market.

Two members of the TVE project group, Adolf Ratzka (Sweden) and Anna Evangelinou (Greece), will be attending the conference.

The next Training as Vehicle to Employment Newsletter will be distributed in December 2007.
