The General Assembly,

Mindful of the pledge made by Member States, under the Charter of the United Nations to take joint and separate action in co-operation with the Organization to promote higher standards of living, full employment and conditions of economic and social progress and development,

Reaffirming its faith in human rights and fundamental freedoms and in the principles of peace, of the dignity and worth of the human person and of social justice proclaimed in the Charter,

Bangladesh is a poor 3rd world country where 80 percent people living below poverty, according to World Health Organization about ten percent people of our country are disabled. Disabled people, especially disabled women and girls, are almost invariably among the poorest, most oppressed and excluded members of the society. One of the main problems faced by disabled people is the negative attitude of the society to them. Negative attitudes, environmental and institutional barriers have made them vulnerable and neglected class of the society

As an American obsessed with avoiding saturated fats, England was a trial. My wife, Lyndi, and I found mayonnaise and butter in abundance at any restaurant or pub. Thankfully, house trade in an English village had a wheelchair accessible kitchen. For the first time in my life I could easily look into the pots while I cooked. The sink also had clearance for my wheelchair. Everything was at my height.
