The Foundation „Normal Prospects”

Misson and activities:

The Foundation „Normal Prospects” is run by disabled students. The aim of the Foundation is to make young disabled people actively participate in the society. Our activity focuses on supporting disabled people in starting their professional career, i. e. in finding a flat and job.

Disabled graduates usually do not have enough financial means to provide their personal contribution required while applying for housing credits. Therefore, the Foundation raises funds to subsidize housing loans for disabled students, provides disabled people with housing space and cooperates with the institutions granting such loans.

Another aim of the Foundation is to enable disabled people to take up an occupation. This activity is aimed at, among other things, arranging for meetings of potential employers with disabled people and cooperating with other organizations, as far as occupational training of disabled people is concerned. The Foundation also provides psychological assistance for people with disabilities.

Our non governmental, non-profit, organization works at the local level.

We consider ourselves as part of the international Independent Living and Disability Rights Movement.

Our organization is mainly run, controlled and represented by disabled people.

We have expertise, or are interested in cooperating with other organizations, in the areas of:

To whom it may concern,

We are a Polish non-governmental organization, which helps disabled students and graduates with housing issues. The problem of availability of appartments adjusted for the disabled people in Poland is now of great significance. The number of this kind of appartments is still extremely insufficient.

The possibility of renting such appartments is crucial for young disabled people and influences their future existence in society. It determines whether they live a normal life or are forced to come back to their small town backgrounds after graduating, where they don’t have any chance for professional progress and social development.

We are one of the first non-governmental organizations in Poland which tries to solve those problems. We try to expand the idea of building appartments for rent adjusted to the needs of disabled people in Polish society and to convince the public authorities to create a system of housing aid to the disabled youth.

Currently, we are preparing a social campaign in support of increasing availability of such appartments for rent. The campaign will be aimed at representatives of public institutions, local authorities and business circles. The program of the campaign includes a series of conferences which will explain the benefits resulting from a greater availability of appartments adjusted to the disabled.

We also would like to present how other countries deal with the issue since it can be helpful in improving the situation in Poland. In order to share experiences during our conferences, we are seeking for institutions and organizations in other EU countries, that could help us in promoting the idea of building appartments adjusted to the needs of disabled people and in developing our activity so that it could become more efficient. Organizations or institutions which would be interested in cooperating with us, please contact:
