Misson and activities:

Assistive Technology Australia (previously, Independent Living Centre NSW) is a leading information, education, and advisory centre for Assistive Technology and the Built Environment. We are located in Westpoint Blacktown, NSW Australia and are a not-for-profit, community based organisation and Public Benevolent Institution.

Our purpose is to inform people’s choices of assistive technology by providing impartial advice and information.

We welcome public to visit our smart display at Blacktown. We have built a full sized one bedroom apartment, with home modifications in situ, into the Display at Blacktown. Built to the Livable Housing Design Guidelines, showcasing assistive technology devices, involving high tech as well as simplle and good design, enabling our visitors to view and try the products on Display.

Alternatively, public can contact our infoline. We have a team of qualified allied health professionals to provide advices on Assistive Technology for independence in everyday living, communication, mobility, home modifications, building design and community services.

Our website www.ilcnsw.asn.au offers public a Database of Assistive Technology products and services;
including resources like Infosheets, @ a Glance Guides, Buyers Guides, Educational Videos for downloads;
providing information and options to assist people in their daily tasks for SEAMLESS~LIVING.

Our non governmental, non-profit, organization works at the national level.

We consider ourselves as part of the international Independent Living and Disability Rights Movement.

Our organization is to some degree run, controlled and represented by disabled people.

We have expertise, or are interested in cooperating with other organizations, in the areas of:

Assistive Technology.
Accessible public transportation.
Assisting persons with intellectual disabilities.
Children with disabilities.
Education and vocational training.
Independent Living Skills Training.
Accessible Design.

We may be able to refer disabled persons to wheelchair accessible housing or transportation or other services in our city.

We have traineeships or volunteer positions that people with disabilities are welcome to apply for.
