The European Network on Independent Living (ENIL) has a European survey on personal assistance with current data (2013) about personal assistance and IL in Ireland.

There is personal assistance in Ireland (population 6.3 million) and the Disability Federation of Ireland has in 2014 written a report: Access to Life: Personal Assistant Services in Ireland and Independent Living by People with Physical and Sensory Disabilities.

The ANED country report on the implementation of policies supporting independent living for disabled people (2009)  indicates that 7,700 people had personal assistance in 2008. This figure is however misleading being the total using PA and other support services including home help and twilight nursing. The Annual Report of the National Physical and Sensory Disability Database Committee 2010 table 10 page 38 states that 1690 people had personal assistance in 2010. Annual reports from later years do not yet include the full population
