Misson and activities:

We are funded by the National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research to improve the ability of people with disabilities to work and live independently in rural areas.

Our organization works at the national level.

Our organization is to some degree run, controlled and represented by disabled people.

We have expertise, or are interested in cooperating with other organizations, in the areas of:

Accessible public transportation.
Coalition building and networking.
Employment.
Legislation.
Research.
Self-advocacy.
Women and disability.
Health promotion and secondary conditions prevention.
Rural Economic Development.
Rural Civic Leadership and people with disabilities.
American Indians with disabilities.
Rural managed health care and people with disabilities.
Health promotion activities and prevention of secondary conditions.
Training Vocational Rehabilitation counselors to help rural consumers become self-employed.
Rural managed health care and people with disabilities.
Rural accessible housing.
American Indians with disabilities.
Rural economic development.

We have traineeships or volunteer positions that people with disabilities are welcome to apply for.
