Options in Community Living

Misson and activities:

Options in Community Living provides support to about 100 adults with developmental disabilities in Dane County, Wisconsin. We believe that every person has the right to live in their own home in the community, have control over decision making, and have meaningful relationships with people and places in the community.

Our organization works at the local level.

Our organization is to some degree run, controlled and represented by disabled people.

We have expertise, or are interested in cooperating with other organizations, in the areas of:

Assisting persons with intellectual disabilities.
Awareness raising.
Coalition building and networking.
Personal assistance.
Community Building
Providing day-to-day support (for some people, 24 hours per day.)
We have cooperated with organizations in other countries before:
We have hosted visitors from Great Britain, Holland, Canada, Northern Ireland, and many states in the US. People we support and Options staff have travelled to consult with organizations in many states as well as Great Britain. We have also given presentations at national and international conferences.

Accomodation: We receive many more requests for visitors than we can accommodate; however, we are happy to talk with interested people and with enough notice.
