Disability Radio Worldwide |
Introduction
Disability Radio Worldwide is a dynamic, 30-minute weekly program broadcast by FM stations, radio reading services, over the Internet, and on shortwave radio. The weekly broadcasts originate from Radio for Peace International in Costa Rica on short wave frequencies 7480, 15065 and 21815--Mondays at 19:00 UTC; Tuesdays at 01:00, 07:00, and 13:00 UTC; Fridays at 20:30 UTC; and Saturdays at 02:30, 08:30, and 14:30 UTC. Check the web site for changes in times and frequencies.
Weekly programs are distributed in the United States by the Pacifica Radio Network and can be heard on many local Pacifica affiliates. Broadcast outlets are added periodically so check the web site--www.independentliving.org/radio--for up-dated information. The website also contains a full Program Catalog with program descriptions.
Disability Radio Worldwide creator, producer and host, Jean Parker is a well known disability rights activist with years of experience working in the movement. Jean's list of program guests reads like a "Who's Who" of the disability community leadership around the globe. Almost all of the guests on Disability Radio Worldwide are people with disabilities and experts in their field(s), discussing the full spectrum of issues related to advancing the human rights of people with disabilities around the world.
Disability Radio Worldwide is packaged for upcoming conferences, disability studies curricula, support groups, peer support training, research and policy development, community organizing, and more. Many programs are archived on the web site in RealAudio format. Program cassettes are also available for purchase.
The following is a list of programs which have been broadcast on Disability Radio Worldwide--organized by category. Cassette tapes of programs listed below can be ordered for $10 per tape which includes the two 30-minute programs as shown below. All checks should be made payable to Empowerment Productions and are tax deductible to the full extent of the law. Additional financial contributions are always welcome.

Message from Jean Parker 22 September 2004 regarding e-mail communication
Dear Friends:
Thank you for your interest in Disability Radio Worldwide.
It has come to my attention that people have sent emails to me at the address given on this web site. Although this address is still valid, I have not received some emails that have been sent to it. Because of an increase in firewalls, filters and other security measures, some email messages do not reach their intended destinations. Also, although I respond to all emails I get I know that some have not been received. So for now, just keep trying and I will establish an alternative email address in the near future. Meanwhile, the program itself is undergoing some transition. We have an additional producer and plan to be back in regular production as soon as possible. In the future Disability Radio Worldwide will be produced as a limited series instead of a regular show.
We appreciate your interest and we will up-date this web site accordingly when production is resumed.
Jean Parker,
Producer and Host Disability Radio Worldwide
