STIL
The Stockholm Cooperative for Independent Living, the first European personal assistance user cooperative, became the model for numerous cooperatives in Sweden and abroad and for <a href="http://www.independentliving.org/docs3/englss.html#actof1993" target="top">the Swedish Assistance Benefit Act of 1993</a>. The Act entitles eligible persons to direct payments from the national social insurance fund. With the money they can purchase assistance services from any provider or hire their assistants themselves.
