The Surrounding Area
Access features:
Wheelchair access is up a ramp through the garage. Inside the floors are level though carpeted. Doors fit my manual wheelchair (25 inches width) and there is access to the toilet from the front and one side. The bathtub is shallow. We can put in a shower chair or bench if needed. The kitchen is large enough to move around in a chair and has a lowered gas cook-top and food preparation area, but sink is regular height with sideways access. There's a large accessible deck.
Wheelchair accessiblity of neighborhood sidewalks:
We live in the Okanagan Valley, about a mile up from the valley floor. There are no sidewalks in our neighbourhood, and a very steep hill down to shops. A wheelchair user would need transport to go far from the house.
Wheelchair accessiblity of neighborhood public transportation:
Kelowna is flat, on Lake Okanagan and very accessible. There are wheelchair accessible buses and also taxis and a para-transit system that must be booked a day in advance. Generally I would say if you come, expect to rent a car. We have a 14 foot boat that is wheelchair friendly. We use it for flyfishing in the mountain lakes, but can also be used to explore Okanagan Lake.
Are neighborhood shops, restaurants, places of interest wheelchair accessible?:
Kelowna is generally wheelchair friendly. It is a regional shopping hub and year round resort with beaches for the summer and skiing an hour away in the winter.

Swap preferences
Swap preferences:
Any larger European city for "come and stay" - otherwise USA or Vancouver (British Columbia) for swap 2 - 4 weeks any month any year
Other
Other comments:
As a couple we would consider a reciprocal single or couple "come and stay" though outside of North America Eric would probably travel alone. We'd be particularly interested in short-tern swaps in Vancouver - about 4 or so hours drive. Otherwise we'd consider swaps anywhere in North America. We have a dog.
