The Surrounding Area
Access features:
I am paraplegic, so the entire ground floor of the house is accessible. The doors are wide, there are no steps, and my bathroom has grab bars, a padded raised toilet seat, and a hand-held shower. My driver (who would be available 6 days a week) is used to assisting me in and out of the car (stowing the wheelchair in the trunk/boot) and in and out of buildings with a few steps or steep ramps.
Wheelchair accessiblity of neighborhood sidewalks:
The immediate area is residential, but there are no sidewalks, rolling in the street is quite safe, however, and I often "stroll" around the neighborhood.
Wheelchair accessiblity of neighborhood public transportation:
Public transport is not very good. Taxis are OK if you can transfer. You have access to my car and driver, however.
Are neighborhood shops, restaurants, places of interest wheelchair accessible?:
With minimal help from my driver, I can get into most anyplace I need to. Access is getting better, but still has a long way to go.

Other comments:
First floor has 2 bedrooms and 2 baths. Upper floor (not wheelchair accessible) has 3 bedrooms and 2 baths. House can comfortably hold a large group (8 to 10). East Java is full of interesting sights. A volcano resort, batik, ikat, stone carving, wood carving, antique centers, cast bronze works, ceramics centers, and more are very nearby. The city of Surabaya also boasts several five-star hotels, great eateries, and abundant shopping. The house comes complete with two live-in maids (they clean and take care of the house, but you'll have to do the cooking), and a car and driver would be at your disposal six days a week. There is a lap pool in the back yard. A gardener comes once a week, and a pool man three times a week.
