Access features:

Wide doorways, elevators, ramped access to roof deck, doorman, concierge & security to help with front doors, level entrance The space within the apartment is pretty open, central AC controls in both bedroom and living room, the bedroom has a twin bed as does the living room, a double air bed can also be provided if necessary, the bathroom is a bath/shower combo with no grab bars (the sink vanity and towel rods suffice for my personal balance needs), a shower bench rental can be arranged, the bathroom can be accessed in a wheelchair but it should be a smaller chair and access is not ideal if you cannot walk or stand, the kitchen is not adapted, the microwave, freezer and cabinetry is difficult to reach from a seated position.

Wheelchair accessiblity of neighborhood public transportation:

100% of NYC buses are accessible, three cross-town routes that go to most every tourist location stop near our building - one in front of our building, one across the street, and one 3 blocks away. Uptown/downtown bus routes are a 5-10 minute walk from us. Two accessible subway stops are a 10 and 15 minute walk, respectively, from our building.

Are neighborhood shops, restaurants, places of interest wheelchair accessible?:

Yes, Times Square is a 15 minute walk away and is very accessible. Our building has a convenience store, dry cleaners, and restaurant run by a Bravo's Top Chef alum inside. Most Broadway theaters are within a 25-30 minute walking radius, all are pretty accessible, a few Off-Broadway theaters just down the street. Plenty of good inexpensive-moderately priced restaurants and bars within 5-10 minute walk from our apartment building and most are accessible. Loews and AMC movie theaters are 10 minute walk away and are fully accessible. Circle Line and other NYC cruise providers are just across the street by the Hudson River, Intrepid Museum is a 5 minute walk.

Rental is for a minimum of 5 nights during the period of June 1-August 1, 2008. Cost is $250 per night and includes DSL and basic HD television (32" flat panel HDTV) and TiVo. Additional fees apply for cleaning services and equipment rentals. I AM NOT OPEN TO SWAPPING DURING THIS PERIOD. If you are looking to swap, I may be interested in swapping for a week or two during December 2008-January 2009 but please do not contact me for a swap if your place is not in the central part of your city (within walking distance of most of the major tourist destinations) or in a resort type area. Places that I am interested in traveling to: California (SoCal - San Diego preferably), Hawaii (must be close to the beach), the Caribbean (must be close to the beach), Miami or the Keys (must be close to the beach), Australia (Sydney preferred), New Zealand, and major cities in Asia that have good winter weather. NO SUBURBAN SWAPS PLEASE.
