The Surrounding Area
Access features: 
Except for guest room, guest bath, utility rooms and garage all bedrooms and living areas are upstairs. House is built in slope without steps at each entrance level. At upper level you roll from dining area out onto the 80 square meters wooden deck that wraps around the house facing south and west, with view of Lake Mälaren (200 m beeline distance). 700 square meter garden with 3 fruit trees, berries, flowers and rare bamboo plants. Possible to wheel around the house on the lawn with powerchair.
Wheelchair accessiblity of neighborhood sidewalks: 
Neighborhood sidewalks are paved and wheelchair accessible, there is a wheelchair accessible dirt path to the lake Mälaren and along the lakeshore which will lead you into downtown Stockholm (would take you all day). Wheelchair accessible paved pathways to wooded areas and to hilltop with breath-taking view of lake Mälaren and Stockholm.
Wheelchair accessiblity of neighborhood public transportation: 
At 300 m distance from house there is a bus stop but busses are low-floor without ramps or lifts. At 10 min walking distance from house there is Vårberg Center, an accessible subway station with connections to downtown Stockholm (30 min).
Are neighborhood shops, restaurants, places of interest wheelchair accessible?: 
At Vårberg Center there is an accessible small shopping center with supermarket, barber and beauty shops, 3 restaurants, florist, video rental etc. At 20 min walking distance from the house there is Skärholmen Center, an accessible glassed-in big shopping mall with dozens of shops, boutiques,neighborhood medical center, subway station,public library, outdoor vegetable and fruit market, restaurants, cafes, two churches. At 30 min walking distance from house there is Kungens Kurva, a major regional shopping center with 50 plus stores,restaurants, movie theaters,all accessible.

We would like to swap for Christmas vacation, say middle of December 2009 until middle of January 2010. But we can offer our guestroom (see description above) for up to a couple of weeks during the summer 2009.
